Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)
For the glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
4. Gradually add the buttermilk, stirring just until the dough comes together.
5. Gently fold in the blueberries, being careful not to crush them.
6. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle.
7. Cut out biscuits using a round cutter and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
8. Brush the tops with melted butter.
9. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown.
10. While the biscuits bake, prepare the glaze by whisking powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
11. Drizzle glaze over warm biscuits before serving.
Notes
Use frozen blueberries to help prevent bleeding into the dough.
Handle the dough gently to keep the biscuits light and tender.
Enjoy these biscuits fresh out of the oven for the best texture.
